Port/Architect
Skin Horse Theater, 2010
Director & Lighting Designer
Devised and Produced by Skin Horse Theater
Directed by Evan Spigelman
In the darkness of a Marigny warehouse where the spoils of Mardi Gras sleep, a band of fleeting spirits are awakened amidst a labyrinth of cardboard and steel. Inspired by Butoh, a revolutionary form of Japanese dance, Port/Architect guides a roving audience through the ghostly remains of an imagined manufacturing plant. In this strange factory a group of luminous cardboard administrators keep watch over living, breathing machines who fitfully dance their way through the elaborate and intricate mechanics of mass production.
