LOUD: New Orleans Queer Youth Theater
LOUD, founded in 2013 by Rachel Lee, Rebcca Mwase, and Evan Spigelman, is an engaging space where LGBTQIA (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Questioning, Intersex, Asexual) youth and their allies can cultivate tools for self-expression through the process of devising original theater. Our members are outspoken, unapologetic queer and trans* youth who come together in solidarity to build community and control the narratives shared about their lives. In a city with limited access to queer safe space, LOUD’s ensemble creates a much needed community in New Orleans. LOUD is guided by four core values: solidarity, undoing racism, devised theater and youth leadership.
